2025 Fred Stephens Tournament to Benefit Brunswick Family Assistance

The 2025 Fred Stephens Memorial Tournament topped all expectation.  The photo above is from last year; hope we can find one to replace it.   Many thanks to the 112 Players from STMGA, STLGA, STLN and the Duffers along with our own “Grill Crew” who put some food out this year for the players.  Last year we raised $4,286 and thought that was pretty special.  The amount raised last year nearly doubled the amount raised in 2023.  By the time we finished vacuuming the Pink Palace, $5,800 was collected and given to the BFA, in the next week, an additional $600 was received bringing the total to $6,400!  Absolutely amazing

2026 Fall Member/Member

The STMGA Fall Member/Member brought two days of competition to Sea Trail Byrd on November 2–3. Two-man teams competed in four nine-hole events (Scramble, Alt Shot, Best Net and Total Net) with overall honors determined by points earned for their finish in each event.

Congratulations to Bill Harbinson and Dan Reynolds, who captured first place overall! Jeff Sandlin and Mahmood Ladha finished second, followed by Marty DiCicco and Bill Wilkinson in third.

In Flight 1, Nick Brunelli and Kenneth Sharrah won Best Net; Jeff Sandlin and Mahmood Ladha claimed Total Net; Greg Parfitt and Cliff Fowler took Scramble honors; and Danny Humphreys and Mark Trent won Alternate Shot.

In Flight 2, Eric Schultz and Paul Kennedy captured Best Net; Marty DiCicco and Bill Wilkinson won Total Net; overall champions Bill Harbinson and Dan Reynolds also earned the Scramble title; and Lou Perna and Vince Brown won Alternate Shot.

Closest-to-the-pin honors went to Don Reiner, Brian Blaine, Nick Brunelli and Mike Luff.

Congratulations to all the winners on their achievements at the STMGA Fall Member/Member!

               2026 Spring Member/Member

Our spring Member/Member Tournament has a similar format to the Member Guest Tournament; 6-flights play 5 9-hole matches with an Alternate Shot shootout at the end between the flight winners. This year’s flight winners were:

Augusta National –            Blaine and Ehrsam

Baltusrol –                    Luff and Comparone

Congressional –              Fowler and Parfitt

Pebble Beach –         Morrison and Dolder

Torrey pines –                Tyler and Marcotte

Winged Foot –             Garguilo and Drum

Hole 18 – Alternate Shot

Steve Comparone and Mike Luff

The Alternate Shot Shootout was exciting as always.  The photo above has Steve Comparone hitting the third stroke into the bunker to the left of 18 Jones.  Partner Luff left the next shot in the bunker followed by Steve redeeming himself with an excellent shot to about 8 feet.  Mike Luff in turn, redeemed himself by draining the putt for the overall win.
