2021 STAND UP TO CANCER FUNDRAISER ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Sea Trail!
A large number of Sea Trail residents have been touched by cancer. A group of residents came together to plan fundraising events to benefit Stand Up to Cancer. We held our 2021 Stand Up to Cancer events last week. We have held these events 3 different years. The first year in 2017, we raised $5,000. In 2019, we held a golf tournament and dinner event and we raised $9,180. THIS YEAR WE RAISED $15,000!! 100% of donations received from the public, support collaborative cancer research programs that bring treatments from the laboratory bench to the bedside faster, and save lives now. A special thank you to Sea and Sand Band and Riptide for their cash donations. Those donations plus the extra money collected from the 90+ residents at the October 8th event brought us to the fantastic total of $15,000 from both events!! On October 5, we held a golf tournament in which 125 golfers participated! That was the largest turnout for a Sea Trail golf tournament in the last number of years. A fun time was had by all! All of the winning teams paid it forward to Stand Up to Cancer. Over $6,000 was donated by the golfers during the tournament. A big Thank you to John Olson for organizing the tournament, to Andrew Galbraith for assisting with the scoring and Ellen Lehrer, Rich Corey, Marge Libby and Cherle Rothermel for working on the Play it Forward holes.
On October 8, we held the dinner event at the Pink Palace. We were entertained by the great music of Sea and Sand Band and an Italian dinner was served by Talk of the Town. Our Sea Trail bakers made homemade desserts that were fabulous. They would have made any pastry chef proud and they were delicious! A big Thank you to the following Sea Trail Bakers: Pat Sutton, Anita Clark, Ellen Bombolis, Karen Barnhart, Diane Scheck, Pat Wilbern. Anna Marie McCarthy, Kim Urban, Lucy Imondi, Diane Kreuzberg, Janine Coakley, Judy Hargreaves, Flo Hill, Gail Treglia, Bill McNeil and Kathy Trent! It was a beautiful evening around the Pink Palace Pool! We celebrated our Cancer survivors with Sea and Sand Band playing “We are the Champions” and we remembered our friends and loved ones who we have lost to cancer. Thank you to our committee of Karen Barnhart, Jack and Georgia Phillabaum, Bill McNeil, Hanneke Nagelkerke, Ellen Bombolis, Ray and Janine Coakley and Kevin Baldwin. With an event like this you also need assistance from the Pool Committee. They cleaned, power washed and moved tables and chairs from the MAC to the Pink Palace pool. Thank you to Gail Treglia , Donna Morris, Maura Baldwin, Ray Coakley, Peter Brockway, Bill Dunn, Victor Agostoni, Charlie Winter, and Kevin Baldwin! Also, a big Thank you to Barry Belford who did the calligraphy for our Cancer Memorial and Survivor Boards, and to Ruth Apalinski and Hilary Halliwell for taking pictures at the golf tournament and the dinner event.
WE are so blessed to live in such a generous and caring community. WE DO Live in Paradise and the people of Sea Trail are the BEST! Thank you to all who donated and attended the events. WE appreciate all that you do!
Thank you,
Cliff and Roz Dahlen
